Michael Ray Hinton, age 61, son of the late Cecil and Betty (Wilson) Hinton of New Castle, passed away Saturday, January 16, 2021 peacefully at his home surrounded by his family after an extensive battle with cancer.
Mike was a 1979 graduate of New Castle Chrysler High School. He retired from the Indiana Department of Corrections in 2019 after 30 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the Elks. He loved to play golf, go fishing, and spend time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Mary (Neel) Hinton; a son, Jeff Hinton; a daughter, Michelle (husband, Willie) Anderson; a grandson, Dylan and granddaughter, Shaylee; one sister, Patty Hinton (husband, Bob) Cochran; a brother-in-law, Wally (wife, Julie) Neel; three sisters-in-law, Sueann Roseberry, Crystal Chandler, Donna (husband, Chuck) Martin; his aunt and uncle, Bernice and Charles Polston; an uncle, Jim Tuttle. Several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, a great-great-nephew along with several cousins and many friends also survive.
Mike is preceded in death by his parents, his paternal grandparents, Elza and Evie Hinton; his maternal grandparents, Roscoe and Paralle Wilson; an infant nephew, Chad Michael Cochran; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 21, 2021 at Macer-Hall-Marcum & Moffitt Funeral Home, 2011 East Broad Street, New Castle with Pastor Paul Davis officiating. Friends may call from 12:00 p.m., until service time at the funeral home. Military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Army, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.
