Betty Jean Stonerock, age 91, was born June 1, 1929 near Static, in Pickett County, Tennessee and departed this life on December 29, 2020 at New Castle, Indiana. Betty was the daughter of George H. and Lydia M. (Pemberton) Lee and was the former Postmaster of the Greensboro, Indiana Post Office for 31 years, from 1953-1984.

In 1949, she married Carl W. Stonerock of New Castle and they were happily married until his death in 1996. Betty was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, gospel and folk music, bird watching, her flower gardens, US History, reading and spending time with her family. She was a kind and generous neighbor and friend who genuinely cared about others.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Stonerock, son, Gregory Lee Stonerock, brother, Willis Lee, sisters, Bertie Lee and Doris Wallace, brothers-in-law, Donald Wallace and Arnold Turpin and great granddaughter, Megan Gruss.

Survivors include son Kevin (Jill) Stonerock, grandsons, Zachariah (Audrey) Stonerock, Gabriel Stonerock, Tony (Gail) Bowman, granddaughter, Cathy Bowman Gruss, sisters Nelle Wallace, Colleen Turpin, and brother, Hugh (Carol) Lee and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be Monday, January 4, 2021, 12:30 p.m. at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, New Castle, Rev. Jerry Ingalls officiating. Friends may call prior to the service between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans (dav.org) or the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org).
