Mary Ellen May 99 of Richmond died Monday, November 23, 2020, at Ambassador Health Care. She was born March 18, 1921, in St. Mary’s, Ohio to John and Sarah Moser Jacobs and lived here most of her life. She was a 1940 graduate of Memorial High School in St. Mary’s Ohio and retired from Richmond State Hospital in 1979. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church
Survivors include one son Bradford J. May, five grandchildren, including Jean May and Jeannie May, her great-grandchildren, one brother Paul (Barbara) Jacobs, nieces and nephews, and her sister in law Irene Doenges. She also leaves her special friend who was like a daughter to her, Sherry Asher.
Her husband Donald K. May, who she married on June 4, 1946, in Lima, Ohio, died July 18, 1994. She is also preceded in death by one son Craig A. May, one daughter Deborah K. May, one sister Virginia Stader, two brothers Forest R. Jacobs and Jack A. Jacobs.
Mary was an avid reader and loved college basketball. She also enjoyed watching golf and playing bingo. After her retirement, she took pleasure in traveling to many places with family and friends. She was always a joy to be around and made everyone feel special. Her passing will definitely leave a void in the lives of all those who knew and loved her.
Private services for family only will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, November 30, 2020, at Stegall-Berheide-Orr Funeral Home with Rev. Jen Huff officiating.
