Florence E. (Jann) Brothers, 90, of Milton passed peacefully Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at Meadow View Health and Rehab in Salem, IN.
Born on April 22, 1930 in Hymera, IN to Rev. Edwin G. & Naomi L. (Burger) Jann.
Florence (Flossie) lived many places growing up as her parents moved around in the ministry. Eventually settling in Milton. It was here she met, fell in love and married Norman (Jack) Brothers on her birthday in 1950, They raised two children in Milton.
She is remembered by many as the lone cheerleader at Milton High School where she graduated in 1948. She and Jack loved attending their children and grandchildren’s sporting events. They continued going long after they all graduated to support the Eagles.
She was a housewife and also worked for American Greetings. A caregiver by nature she took care of many and was always available if anyone needed help or a hand with anything. Florence loved to bowl and has many trophies on display to show her love of the sport. Bingo became her new game of choice until Covid closed things down and she wasn’t able to play any more.
After a stroke and Parkinson’s she has been cared for by her daughter in southern Indiana the past 6 ½ years. THANK YOU to of all who came to visit her, she really appreciated it!
Survivors include her children, Mike of Milton and Jan (Steve) Whitaker of Corydon; 4 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; a sister, Ruth Smith of Indianapolis; sister-in-laws, Dorotha Tiemann of Richmond and Irene Jann of Maryland.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 2000; 2 brothers, Harold and Elden; a sister, Elizabeth Young.
A private service was held for family and extended family on Saturday, November 7 at Waskom Capitol Hill Chapel in Cambridge City with burial following at Westside Cemetery in Milton.
