Members of the Centerville-Abington Community Schools family are among those mourning the loss of a Centerville High School junior.
Emma Grace Ulm, 16, who was a lifelong Richmond resident, died Tuesday, July 7.
In a statement, officials said the school system was saddened to learn of Ulm’s passing, and sends its thoughts and prayers to her friends and family, which includes parents Keith and Dawn Ulm and sister Abby Ulm.
“Emma was an outstanding student-athlete who always had a smile on her face and was willing to help others,” the schools’ statement said. “Emma was a true competitor on the court and dedicated student in the classroom. Her loss will leave a deep void in the classroom, on the court, and in the hearts of her teachers, classmates and her friends.”
Ulm played volleyball and basketball and participated in track and field.
Her obituary from Doan & Mills Funeral Home also noted she was a member of Liberty Church of Christ, loved reading, watching the TV show “Charmed” and movies, hanging out with friends, and boating and spending time at Lake Lakengren in Eaton, Ohio.
A school counselor was available on Wednesday and Thursday mornings for any students who would like to meet to remember their friend and classmate.
Visitation will take place from 5-8 p.m. Monday, July 13, at Doan & Mills, 790 National Road W., Richmond. A memorial service will take place at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 14 at Liberty Church of Christ, 102 S. Main St., Liberty.
