Robert E. Myers, 92, of Cambridge City, passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at Stonebrooke Rehabilitation Center in New Castle. He was born on December 27, 1927 in Wayne County to Herbert E. and Edith Mae (Pierce) Myers and lived all his life in this area.

Bob was a Wampus Cat and graduated in 1945 from Cambridge City Central School. He served in the US Army from 1950 – 1952 and then continued his education at Purdue, where he received a Bachelors Degree in Engineering. After receiving his degree, he went to work for INDOT and retired after more than 35 years as a bridge inspector.

Bob married Betty J. Lorton and together they made their home here in Cambridge City. Betty passed away on October 25, 1989. After her passing and his retirement Bob spent many hours golfing and working at Winding Branch. Bob was a member of Lawrence Bertsch American Legion Post #169. He also enjoyed going to the casino in Anderson to play penny slots.

His survivors include a niece, Anne Myers of Maine and three nephews – Bruce Myers and Keith Myers both of California and John (Beverly) Eadler of Cambridge City.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Betty, he was preceded in death by his step-son, Tony Hoover; two sister, Elizabeth Myers and Janet E. Eadler; two brothers, Norman Myers and Charles Myers; a niece Catherine Myers and several sisters-in-law including Nettie (Paul) Dungan.

At his request there will be no public visitation or services. Bob will be laid to rest next to Betty at Riverside Cemetery in Cambridge City. Arrangements are entrusted to Waskom Capitol Hill Chapel.
