Obituaries - Earnest Dale Kirtley

Ernest Dale Kirtley, 91, of Economy, died at his home on Monday, September 4, 2017.

He was born in Daleville on September 17, 1925 to Ernest and Nance (Lentz) Kirtley and lived nearly all of his life in the Economy area.

Dale was a life long farmer and a member of Economy United Methodist Church. He served with the US Navy during WW II. He was a member of Hagerstown Lodge #49, F&AM, National Horseshoe Pitching Association and former member of Wayne County Soil and Water Conservation District Board.

Survivors include a son, Daniel Kirtley (Karen) of Economy; two granddaughters, Kristi Kirtley and Kelli Werling (Zac), his farming partner, Steve Luellen and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret Kirtley in 1991, his second wife, Iris Kirtley in 2014, 6 sisters and a brother.

Services will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, September 8, at Culberson Funeral Home, Hagerstown. Burial will follow in Economy Cemetery with military graveside services. Visitation will be 4 to 7 PM on Thursday with Masonic Memorial Services at 7 PM.

Memorials may be made to Economy United Methodist Church, Indianapolis Honor Flight or Wayne County 4-H.
