The Richmond girls wrestling team won the Centerville Wrestling Invitational, held at Centerville Senior High School on Wednesday, Dec. 17. The Lady Red Devils scored 152 points to finish first in the 15-team field.
Richmond had three weight-class champions. Claire Abbitt won the 115-pound weight class, Ambria Tate won the 135-pound weight class and Arlette Espinoza won the 235-pound weight class. Tate was also recognized for having the fastest pin of the tournament (0.09 seconds). Key’Aysha Golden was second in the 155-pound weight class. Veronica Woods was third in the 100-pound weight class and Marlee Wampler was third in the 125-pound weight class.
The Hagerstown Lady Tigers finished second as a team with 120 points and had two weight class champions, Addie Gilbert and Brenna Walker. Sadie Nicolas was a second-place finisher and Suzelle Ferry was a third-place finisher. Aurora Allen and Izabella Mitchener both had fourth-place finishes.
Centerville finished seventh with 95 points. Shelby Life was a weight class champion.
