Because tennis is a single-class sport, the Indiana High School Athletics Association runs a team tournament and an individual tournament for No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles players from teams that have been eliminated.
The individual tournament runs parallel to the team tournament. The regional for teams and sectional for qualifying individuals were held concurrently at Mount Vernon (Fortville).
The players competing for the individual title, in the match held on Wednesday, Oct. 8, were both freshmen from Wayne County schools. Xander Harrick from Richmond High School faced off against Alex Tinkle from Hagerstown High School.

Harrick reached the title match by defeating Josiah Berry from Lincoln High School by scores of 6-0, 6-0, and Tinkle reached the title match by defeating Cayson Warrell from Shenandoah by scores of 6-2, 6-0.
Harrick won the match 6-3 and 6-1 to win the title and advance to the North Central regional to be played on Saturday, Oct. 18. Harrick improved his record of the season to 22-1. Tinkle ended his season with a record of 22-3, with all three losses coming against Harrick.
