Wayne County Special Olympics has been blessed with a new softball diamond at Achieva Resources in Richmond, Indiana, as a result of generous donations. U.S. Aggregates generously donated 30 tons of sand to construct the diamond. Equipment operator Chris Johnson was permitted the use of Smarelli Contractors’ skid loader to remove the topsoil from the field. Wayne County Special Olympics Coordinator, Lonnie Snow, leveled out the sand and prepared the softball field for play. Athletes Guner Trent and Remy Dean assisted in field preparation. Volunteers Robert Waters, Coach John Place and Dave Brock helped construct the backstop.
Snow issued the following statement.
“Thank you, Achieva Resources, for allowing us to build this ball diamond on your facility. We are looking forward to a great partnership with your organization. Many of our athletes work at Bench Mark which is at the same location.
Thanks to everyone who made this possible. This shows how much our community cares for our Special Olympics athletes.
Lonnie Snow, Wayne County Special Olympics Coordinator”
