The Richmond High School track teams traveled to Lafayette Jefferson High School on Friday, May 9, for the North Central Conference track and field meet. The Lady Red Devils were crowned team champions, the boys turned in a strong performance to take fourth place and RHS head coach Hunter Lambright was named girls Coach of the Year by his peers. In a display of the depth of their talent pool, the Red Devil boys and girls scored points in all 16 events contested.
In the girls meet, Akailyn Hogg was the winner of the 100-meter dash (12.47), the 200-meter dash and teamed up with Shay Sexton, Kashawn Farris-Craig and Lily Vanlandingham to win the 4×100 meter relay (50.20). Keena Barker captured first place in both the 1600 meter (5:39.00) and the 3200 meter (12:45.03) and second place in the 800 meter (2:30.81). Jenna Johnson won the shot put with a toss of 35’9″. Kemaira Farris-Craig was second in the 400 meter (1:02.84) and Shaylon Sexton was second in the high jump (4’8″).

The Red Devil boys had two individual champions. Jacob Lindahl won the shot put with a toss of 56’9.5″, sliding past teammate Masson Heiny, who finished second with a toss of 56’3″, and Trevin Crosby flirted with 49 seconds, winning the 400 meter in a new personal best time of 50.08.
Antione West was second in the 400 meter (50.38) and Cale Newton was second in the 3200 meter (9:51.05).
