The Hagerstown softball team lost its first game of the season on Wednesday, April 23, with a 6-5 nine-inning loss at 3A fourth-ranked Indianapolis Roncalli. The first-ever meeting between the two schools in softball went two extra innings before the Lady Royals pulled out a 6-5 win. The game was tied at 5-5 in the bottom of the ninth inning before Elise Baker singled in the winning run. 

The Tigers pushed their lead to 5-0 after three innings. A Rylan Young home run in the top of the second inning gave the Tigers a 3-0 lead, and Allison Stinson hit a two-run home run in the top of the third inning. The Royals came back with five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning that included a grand slam home run off the bat of Mo Curtis. The game remained tied at 5-5 before Baker’s ninth inning heroics.   

Baker not only drove in the winning run for the Royals, but she was the winning pitcher in relief.  Young took the loss.
