Wayne County first responders are mourning the loss of two of their own within one week.
Milton-Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department firefighter Scott Adams died Friday, April 25. He experienced a medical emergency hours after responding with the department to a motor vehicle accident, a release said.
Adams, 46, of Richmond, was also an advanced emergency medical technician and served both Boston and Milton departments.

Adams’ viewing is from 2-6 p.m. Friday, May 2, at Wayne County Fairgrounds, followed by a 6 p.m. service, procession, Boston VFD final radio call, honors and flag folding.
Wayne County Sheriff’s Office Detective Lt. Jack Martin died Thursday, April 24, which was his 25th anniversary of joining the department. The 51-year-old Air Force veteran was an organ donor. Regional first responders gathered at Reid Health for an Honor Walk to note his contributions to the community, according to a statement.

Martin’s visitation is from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, May 3, at First English Lutheran Church, 2727 E. Main St., Richmond, followed by his funeral and a procession to Earlham Cemetery.
“As we grieve this tremendous loss, we are reminded of the unseen burdens that so many carry. In Jack’s memory, we encourage anyone who may be struggling to reach out,” Sheriff Randy Retter said in a statement, noting the 988 national crisis line for anyone, and a dedicated line for first responders and medical professionals at 206-459-3020. “You are not alone, and help is always available,” Retter said.
Doan & Mills Funeral Home is coordinating arrangements for both.
