The Richmond track teams traveled to Marion on Saturday, April 19, to participate in the prestigious Marion Relays. The Red Devils had two first-place winners.
The Lady Red Devil 4×100 meter relay captured first place with a time of 51.11 seconds, and Jacob Lindahl captured first place in the boys shot put with a toss of 53 feet, 3.75 inches.
Other notable Richmond performances in the boys competition included:
Antonie West placed third in the 100 meter.
Cale Newton placed eighth in the 1,600 meter.
The 4×100 meter relay team placed seventh.
The 800-meter sprint relay placed second.
The 400-meter relay team placed eighth.
The distance medley relay placed sixth.
Masson Heiny placed second in the discus with a heave of 149 feet, 6 inches, less than 2 feet out of first place.
Masson Heiny placed fourth in the shot put.
Other notable Richmond performances in the girls competition included:
Akailyn Hogg placed third in the 100 meter.
Lily Vanlandingham placed eighth in the 100 meter.
Keena Barker placed fourth in the 1,600 meter and fifth in the 3,200 meter.
The 800-meter relay team placed fifth.
The 4×400 meter relay team placed seventh.
The 4×800 meter relay team placed seventh.
The distance medley relay team placed sixth.
Kashawn Farris-Craig placed fourth in the long jump, and Kemaira Farris-Craig placed sixth.
Jenna Johnston placed third in the shot put.
In the overall team standings, Homestead won the girls team competition with 120.5 points; the Lady Red Devils placed fifth with 51 points. Mount Vernon (Fortville) won the boys team competition with 107 points. The Red Devil men placed eighth with 44 points.
