Owen Fowler from Richmond High School, Carter Ramsey from Hagerstown High School, Devon Whaley from Centerville High School, and the RHS 200-yard freestyle relay team of Greyson Farmer, Fowler, Layton Smith and Braxten Whited joined the impressive field at the 88th annual IHSAA state swim meet held at the Indiana University Indianapolis Natatorium.
The meet was held over two days. The preliminary round was on Friday, Feb. 28, with the top eight finishers moving to the championship round races on Saturday, March 1, and the ninth-16th place finishers in the consolation round races also on Saturday, March 1.
Day 1 results:
- Fowler, swimming in the 50-yard freestyle race, advanced to the finals, recording a time of 20.63. Fowler, swimming in the 100-yard freestyle race advanced to the consolation round, recording a time of 46.24.
- Ramsey, swimming in the 500-yard freestyle, finished 27th in the field of 32 swimmers with a time of 4:53.63 and did not advance.
- Whited, swimming in the 100-yard backstroke, finished 27th in the field of 32 swimmers with a time of 52.90 and did not advance.
- The Richmond 200-yard freestyle relay team finished 29th in the field of 32 teams with a time of 1:31.94 and did not advance.
Day 2 results:
- Fowler, swimming in the consolation round of the 100-yard freestyle, placed 11th with a time of 46.36.
- Fowler, swimming in the 50-yard freestyle race, placed fifth with a time of 20.73, earning a medal and a place on the podium.
