Three local organizations are teaming to bring regional performers for a free community event.

The program, called “Rhythm & Reflection: Honoring the Legacy of Martin Luther King Jr.,” will take place from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18.

Morrisson-Reeves Library, Richmond Art Museum and Earlham College are offering the program at RAM’s McGuire Hall, 350 Hub Etchison Parkway, Richmond.

TINO

Indianapolis spoken word artist Manòn Voice and Dayton-based hip-hop artist TINO (Valentino Halton) will perform.

Voice, a poet, writer, filmmaker and educator, creates works that blend artistry with activism. Her spoken word performances have taken place across the country, and she’s also facilitated writing and poetry workshops.

The event’s organizers say TINO is known for his intricate wordplay and unique flow. His music incorporates a variety of styles, ranging from classic “golden era” boom bap to modern trap, often infused with soul samples and electronic elements.

Manòn Voice

MRL Program Specialist Joe Augustin said the performance promises to be “a powerful and engaging exploration of artistic expression through spoken word and hip-hop music.”
