Centerville, Hagerstown and Richmond each advanced wrestlers to the regional round of the state tournament from the sectional round. Centerville and Richmond were assigned to the Eastern Hancock sectional held Friday, Jan. 3, while Hagerstown was assigned to the Muncie Central sectional held the same day. The top four finishers in each weight class from both sectional sites advanced to the Alexandria-Monroe regional to be held on Friday, Jan. 10.
Eastern Hancock Sectional
Centerville advanced five wrestlers to the regional, including two weight-class champions. Isabella Kelley was fourth at 100 pounds. Tzuriya Phillips was the sectional champion at 115 pounds. Cami Davis was second at 120 pounds. Reagan Cauley was second at 170 pounds. Shelby Life was the sectional champion at 190 pounds.
Richmond advanced seven wrestlers to the regional. Amya James was fourth at 115 pounds. Geneva Sumner was fourth at 120 pounds. Marlee Wampler was second at 125 pounds. Claire Abbitt was third at 130 pounds. Ambria Tate was third at 135 pounds. Key’Asha Golden was second at 155 pounds. Deshauna Gammage was fourth at 170 pounds.
Muncie Central Sectional
Hagerstown advanced three wrestlers to the regional round, including a weight-class champion.
Brenna Walker was fourth at 120 pounds. Abigail Gilbert was the sectional champion at 125 pounds. Charlie Rinehart finished third at 235 pounds.
