Matthew Bartlett was selected by the Milton Town Board as the new chief for the Milton-Washington Township Fire Department.
Bartlett has 28 years of experience and is state certified as a firefighter, officer, instructor, investigator and is a nationally registered emergency medical technician, according to a news release. He works in the towing industry in Indianapolis and is a part-time firefighter and EMT for the Buck Creek Township Fire Department in Greenfield.
Bartlett chose Josh Hensley to continue as the operations and assistant chief. Hensley is a full-time paramedic for the Greenfield Fire Territory. He is certified as a firefighter and paramedic, and he holds numerous technical rescue certifications.
Nicholas Bogue, who was serving as interim chief, was selected a captain after supporting Bartlett’s appointment as chief. This gives him the opportunity to build his leadership skills and gain experience as the department moves ahead with the new administration.
Capt. Nicole Robinson was selected to lead the EMS portion of the department’s responses, including training and reporting. Robinson is a full-time EMT in Johnson County.
The department has a vision to build strong relationships with the community and neighboring agencies while providing professional service to Milton, Washington Township and the Western Wayne area, the release said.

The town board also announced Sgt. Matt Bedel is joining the Milton Police Department full time.
