Seton Catholic senior Bryn VanVleet announced her commitment to play volleyball at Cleveland State University several months ago, on Wednesday, Nov. 13, she made it official by signing her national letter of intent in a ceremony held at Seton Catholic High School.

Surrounded by dozens of family, friends, fellow students, faculty members, and current and former coaches, VanVleet signed her commitment to the Viking program.

VanVleet generated substantial interest from Division 1 programs, not only through her high school play, but through her play with club volleyball during the off season with the Academy Boiler juniors in Lafayette. VanVleet said that she was surprised that more than a dozen Division 1 schools showed interest in her. “I drove two hours to play but it was worth it to get the exposure to college coaches,” VanVleet said. “I narrowed my choices and made four campus visits. When I went to visit Cleveland State I knew that was where I wanted to go. It just felt like home.”  Between now and when she reports to campus next fall VanVleet will continue to play club volleyball at the Academy in Indianapolis.

The Vikings will not only be getting an outstanding volleyball player they will be getting an outstanding student. VanVleet, who finished her career with a school record of 1788 kills, is also an academic all-state selection.
