The Richmond Lady Red Devil golf team entered sectional play on Friday, Sept. 20, having won the title in each of the last six seasons.

The Union County Patriots, playing on their home course, put a stop to the streak with a team score of 345.

Richmond finished second with a score of 363 and Northeastern finished third with a score of 383; all three teams advance to the regional round to be played at the Edgewood Golf Course in Lapel on Saturday, Sept. 28.  

Peityn Gillman, from Union County, was the medalist, touring the Liberty Country Club layout with a score of 74. Hannah Stearley from Richmond finished second with a score of 80 and Nora Robinson from Union County shot 81 to finish third. 

Individuals advancing to the regional who were not members of the top three teams included Lydia Hines from New Castle (88), Emma Staton from Centerville (90) and Kenna Hemmerling from Centerville (95).  

New Castle’s Emma Malicoat provided a highlight moment when she recorded a hole-in-one on hole nine.
