The National Weather Service has determined a tornado caused tree damage but no injuries May 7 near Milton.
The EF1 tornado had wind speeds of 90 miles per hour along a path 150 yards wide and 2.9 miles long, according to the NWS. The EF1 designation is the second-weakest level in the six-category Enhanced Fujita Scale used to classify tornadoes.
Beginning at 8:08 p.m. May 7 and lasting until 8:13 p.m., the tornado began along North County Road 350 West northeast of Bentonville, where tree damage was observed. More tree damage occurred east of Paul Road on the border of Fayette and Wayne counties.
The most concentrated damage was along Wagner Road on Milton’s west side, where trees were uprooted or snapped. Minor tree damage was also found along Indiana 1 north of Milton, which is considered the tornado’s ending point.
Five properties sustained significant tree damage.
The NWS considers its determinate as preliminary pending a final review of the storm.
