Northeastern Wayne Schools has named Ryan Halloran as its new athletic director for the 2024-2025 school year.
Current athletic director Gerry Keesling is retiring.
In addition to teaching biology and coaching at Northeastern, Halloran also has served as an assistant athletic director for the past three years.
He has more than two decades of experience teaching and coaching in Wayne County.
In a news release, Halloran said he’s passionate about mentoring and coaching student-athletes to become not only better athletes but also better students, individuals and leaders in their communities.
After graduating from Union County High School in 1988, Halloran majored in secondary education at Indiana University East.
Before joining Northeastern in 2016, he taught biology at Richmond High School and was intramural athletic director from 2012 to 2016.
Halloran has coached various varsity, junior varsity, middle school and intramural sports, including football, basketball, baseball, track and golf.
Former RHS football coach Richard Bryant chose Halloran as the school’s JV football coach in 2005. In 2007, Matt Holeva hired Halloran as offensive coordinator at Centerville Senior High School. Halloran returned to RHS in 2012 as offensive coordinator.
In 2017, Northeastern’s Wes Oler hired Halloran as a special teams coach, and in 2019, as defensive coordinator. Halloran helped the Knights capture two TEC championships.
