A solar eclipse countdown clock is being unveiled as part of a celebration leading up to the historic event.
Richmond/Wayne County Convention & Tourism Bureau and Primex Design & Fabrication are planning the celebration at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23, at Old National Road Welcome Center, 5701 National Road E., Richmond.
Primex’s clock will travel to various locations across Richmond until April 8.
The first 100 attendees will receive a free pair of eclipse glasses and an eclipse cling. Refreshments and prizes are also planned.
During the event, Primex staff will introduce their one and two-person hand-held eclipse viewers and yard signs.
The welcome center is currently selling protective eyewear, hand-held viewers, yard signs, T-shirts, hats and other memorabilia.
At least 50 local events and experiences are planned from April 5-8, and more information is available at WayneCountySolarEclipse.com.
