Learn to recognize severe weather conditions with weather spotter training March 11.
Wayne County Emergency Management Agency is partnering with Ohio agencies in Darke and Preble counties for the training from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Preble County Fairgrounds EXPO Expansion Center, 722 S. Franklin St., Eaton, Ohio. Registration is available at https://forms.office.com/g/piXEZunxpZ or by calling 765-973-9399.
The National Weather Service in Wilmington, Ohio, will provide the information about storm ingredients, characteristics of severe storms, anatomy of a storm, supercell storms and rotation. By providing the education, the NWS can receive firsthand weather reports from wherever a spotter is located. That information informs decisions about storm watches and warnings.
Spring Severe Weather Awareness Week is March 10-16 in Indiana and March 17-23 in Ohio, so it’s a good time to prepare for severe storms, including acquisition of NOAA weather radios.
Contact EMA at 765-973-9399 for additional information about storm preparation.
