Spectrum is expanding its fiber-optic network in Wayne County.

The build-out will offer broadband internet access to approximately 4,200 Wayne County homes and businesses. Already, more than 750 locations have been activated for service, according to a news release.

Spectrum’s Wayne County efforts are part of a $5 billion investment in unserved rural communities. The build-out also offers mobile, TV and voice services.

“As a business owner, reliable internet access is paramount, especially as more tools and resources are accessible online,” said Wayne County Commissioner Jeff Plasterer in the release. “I’m thrilled that Spectrum’s broadband expansion is bringing high-speed internet access to previously unserved parts of Wayne County and giving businesses there a new lifeline to growth and success.”

When announcing the fiber expansion in Wayne County, Spectrum also donated $2,500 to Forward Wayne County and the Wayne County Foundation to further digital education engagement through local libraries.
