Wayne County sent 15 wrestlers from Centerville, Hagerstown and Richmond to the wrestling regional, and three qualified to advance to the state meet.
Franklin Central won the event, Richmond placed ninth, Hagerstown placed 15th and Centerville placed 26th in the final team standings. The top four finishers in each weight class qualify to advance to the state meet to be held on Friday, Jan. 16, at the Corteva Coliseum at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.
The wrestling regional, hosted by Muncie Central, was held on Saturday, Jan. 10.
State qualifiers:
Claire Abbitt (18-3) from Richmond was the regional champion at 120 pounds.
Abbitt defeated Lilly Roell from Greenwood, Emma Jones from Cowan and Auna McCarty from Beech Grove to qualify for the championship match. In the championship match, Abbitt defeated Lindsey Lanner from Hamilton Southeastern for the title.
Abigail Gilbert (39-1) from Hagerstown was the regional champion at 130 pounds.
Gilbert defeated Jamariah Patton from Fishers, Alia Russell from Franklin Central and Arynn Garrard from Cathedral to qualify for the championship match. Gilbert defeated Paige Stires from Lapel for the title.
Shelby Life (16-1) from Centerville finished third in the 190-pound weight class.
Life defeated Sha’Nay Henderson from Southport in her opening-round match. She then defeated Dezirea Walker from Yorktown.
Life lost to Zoie Gray from Triton Central before coming back to defeat Aneesa Thompson from Pendleton Heights in the third-place match.

100 lbs.: Veronica Woods (12-23) (Richmond) lost her first-round match to Mackenzie Harris from Elwood.
115 lbs.: Cami Davis (19-6) (Centerville) defeated Sailer O’Brien from Frankton in her first-round match before losing to Kynlie Keffer from Daleville.
120 lbs.: Sadie Nicholas (23-13) (Hagerstown) lost her first-round match to Emma Jones from Cowan.
125 lbs.: Brenna Walker (29-7) (Hagerstown) defeated Dalilah Contreras-Marin from Lawrence Central in her first-round match before losing to Ariana Quezada from Plainfield.
130 lbs.: Marlee Wampler (29-16) (Richmond) lost her first-round match to Jorja Carroll from Greenwood.
135 lbs.: Izabelle Butler (15-12) (Centerville) lost her first-round match to June Wagner-Gilbert from New Palestine.
135 lbs.: Cameron Robertson (8-9) (Hagerstown) lost her first-round match to Dayonna Dyson from Franklin County.
135 lbs.: Ambria Tate (32-14) (Richmond) defeated Nevaeh Bevelhimer from Wes-Del in her first-round match before losing to Grace Carpenter from Marion.
140 lbs.: Izabella Mitchener (17-14) (Hagerstown) lost her first-round match to Madeline Thompson from Franklin Central.
140 lbs.: Ka’Myia Nicholson (14-4) (Richmond) lost her first-round match to Learah Rollins from Muncie Central.
155 lbs.: Key’Aysha Golden (28-12) defeated Kendall White from Hamilton Southeastern in her first-round match before losing to Journee Wells from Warren Central.
235 lbs.: Arlette Espinoza (17-13) (Richmond) lost her first-round match to Racheal Adolphia from North Central.
