Taxing entities set public hearings for budgets

Wayne County residents have the opportunity to express their opinions about how tax money is spent locally.

Taxing districts must advertise their proposed 2025 budgets and conduct public hearings before adopting their budgets. Budget information must be posted on the Department of Local Government finance website. Find budget information for Wayne County, the city of Richmond, and the county’s towns, townships, school districts, and public library systems at budgetnotices.in.gov/unit_lookup.aspx?ct=89000.

The following entities have posted their information on the website:

• Jackson Township, a proposed $356,022 budget, with a public hearing at noon Aug. 28 and budget adoption planned at noon Sept. 11, both at 340 W. Main St., Cambridge City.
• Washington Township, a proposed $95,700 budget, with a public hearing at 6 p.m. Aug. 29 and budget adoption planned at 6 p.m. Sept. 12, both at 101 Central Ave., Milton.
• Fountain City, a proposed $353,267 budget, with a public hearing at 7 p.m. Sept. 3 and budget adoption planned at 7 p.m. Oct. 1, both at 312 W. Main St., Fountain City.
• Cambridge City, a proposed $1,562,641 budget, with a public hearing at 6 p.m. Sept. 9 and budget adoption planned at 6 p.m. Oct. 14, both at 127 N. Foote St., Cambridge City.
• East Germantown, a proposed $123,726 budget, with a public hearing at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 9 and budget adoption planned at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 14, both at 206 S. Milton St., East Germantown.
• Boston, a proposed $36,984 budget, with a public hearing at 7 p.m. Sept. 9 and budget adoption planned at 7 p.m. Oct. 14, both at 102 S. Salem St., Boston.
• Harrison Township, a proposed $47,700 budget, with a public hearing at 6 p.m. Sept. 10 and budget adoption planned at 6 p.m. Sept. 24, both at 2761 N. Indiana 1, Cambridge City.
• Dalton Township, a proposed $29,745 budget, with a public hearing at 7 p.m. Sept. 10 and budget adoption planned at 7 p.m. Sept. 24, both at 14063 U.S. 35, Economy.
• Wayne County Contractual Library, a proposed $191,920 budget, with a public hearing at 4 p.m. Sept. 11 and budget adoption planned at 4 p.m. Oct. 9, both at Morrisson-Reeves Library, 80 N. Sixth St., Richmond.
• Morrisson-Reeves Public Library, a proposed $3,021,098 budget, with a public hearing at 4:30 p.m. Sept. 11 and budget adoption planned at 4:30 p.m. Oct. 9, both at the library, 80 N. Sixth St., Richmond.
• Centerville-Abington Community School Corp., a proposed $30,981,955 budget, with a public hearing at 7 p.m. Sept. 11 and budget adoption planned at 7 p.m. Sept. 25, both at 115 W. South St., Centerville.
• Greens Fork, a proposed $161,250 budget, with a public hearing at 6:45 p.m. Sept. 12 and budget adoption planned at 6:45 p.m. Oct. 10, both at 12 S. Water St., Greens Fork.
• Perry Township, a proposed $139,728 budget, with a public hearing at 7 p.m. Sept. 12 and budget adoption planned at 7 p.m. Oct. 10, both at the Perry Township firehouse, 138 Poplar St., Economy.
• Abington Township, a proposed $200,395 budget, with a public hearing at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 18 and budget adoption planned at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 16, both at 4618 Pottershop Road.
