Lt. Col. Robert E. Wettig served as the Richmond High School equipment manager from 1992-2006, positively influencing countless student athletes. After his death in 2007, Richmond High School established the Bob Wettig Basketball Tournament to honor his memory.
First- and second-round games were played at both Earlham College and at the Tiernan Center kicking off the first day of the 2025 tournament on Thursday, Jan. 2. Centerville and Seton Catholic both played their opening round games on the campus of Earlham College while the Red Devils opened tournament play at the Tiernan Center.
First round, day one:
Fort Wayne Luers 67, Warsaw 53 @ Tiernan
Fort Wayne North 64, Purdue Poly Englewood 61OT @ Earlham
Ben Davis 61, Centerville 43 @ Earlham
The aptly named Giants jumped out to a 21-2 lead before the Bulldogs battled back to cut their deficit to 23-9 at the end of the first quarter. The Bulldogs continued to chip away in the second quarter, closing the gap to 30-21 by halftime. The Bulldogs were still within striking distance entering the fourth quarter, trailing 39-31. The Giants exploded for 22 points in the fourth quarter, including a 10-0 run highlighted by back-to-back breakaway dunks from 6-foot-5 JaShawn Ladd and 6-foot-10 Kaleb Milan, to win going away. Ten Giants scored in the game; Ladd led the Giants with 14 points. Jace Hollendonner led the Bulldogs with 12 points. Bryson Brown scored eight points, and Keith Plyley Jr. added 7 points.

Richmond 58, Indianapolis Homeschool 57 @ Tiernan
The Red Devils jumped out to a big lead early. Mason Carpenter scored 13 first-quarter points to propel Richmond to a 20-8 lead at the end of the first. The flow of the game changed and the Wildcats fought back to take a late lead. The Wildcats were clinging to a 57-55 lead as time expired, but the officials huddled and ruled that there was still six-tenths of a second left to play. The Devil passed the ball in to Carpenter, who hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to lift the Red Devils to victory. In addition to his last-second heroics, Carpenter crossed the 1,000 career point plateau during the game. Richmond scoring was unavailable.
Heritage Christian 49, Seton Catholic 36 @ Earlham
The Cardinals got off to a slow start in the battle of the birds. The Eagles built a quick lead and expanded it to 31-15 by halftime. The teams played nearly even in the second half with the Eagles picking up the win. Jason Moynihan led the Cardinals with 14 points. Grant Semler added 12 points and Jackson Feist scored seven points.
Second round, day one
Warsaw 54, Purdue Poly 46 @ Earlham
Fort Wayne Luers 64, Fort Wayne North 56 @ Tiernan
Ben Davis 52, Northwood 49 @ Tiernan
Indianapolis Washington 40, Centerville 37 @ Earlham
The Bulldogs led for all of the first half and most of the third quarter before the Continentals took their first lead. From there it was a fight to the finish. The Bulldogs took their last lead at 35-34 before Washington outscored Centerville 6-2 to end the game. Jace Hollendonner led the Bulldogs with 12 points, but did not score in the second half. Landyn Keiser scored 9 points.

The Cardinals got a season high of 28 points from Jackson Feist, Jason Moynihan scored 16 points, Grant Semler scored 14 points and Tyson Tremain added 11 points in the win.
Third round, day two
Third-round games began at 8 a.m. Friday, Jan. 3, with Phalen Academy and Indianapolis Homeschool playing at Earlham, and Centerville and Purdue Poly Englewood playing at the Tiernan Center to begin determining placement round games.
Purdue Poly Englewood 55, Centerville 44 @ Tiernan
Centerville carried a 37-35 lead into the fourth quarter, but they could not hold off a late surge by the Techies. Landyn Keiser led the Bulldogs with 14 points.
Indianapolis Homeschool 63, Phalen Academy 56 @ Earlham
Warsaw 76, Indianapolis Washington 30 @ Earlham
North Decatur 58, Seton Catholic 51 @ Tiernan
Jackson Feist scored a career-high 30 points and Jason Moynihan added 15 points for the Cards, but no one else scored more than four points in the close loss.

Landyn Keiser led the Bulldogs with 20 points and Jace Hollendonner added 11 points as Centerville captured 15th place.
13th place game: Purdue Poly Englewood 59, Indianapolis Homeschool 26 @ Earlham
11th place game: Indianapolis Washington 60, Seton Catholic 52 @ Tiernan
Jason Moynihan scored 20 points and Grant Semler added 14 points as the Cards finished in 12th place.
9th place game: Warsaw 87, North Decatur 59 @ Earlham
7th place game: Fort Wayne North 64, Indianapolis Shortridge 51 @ Tiernan
5th place game: Northwood 66, Heritage Christian 25 @ Earlham
3rd place game: Fort Wayne Luers 60, Richmond 49 @ Tiernan
Mason Carpenter led the Red Devils with 17 points. Dae Lundy scored 12 points and Quenten Lopeman added 10 points. The Red Devils finished fourth in the tournament.
Championship game: Ben Davis 51, Shelbyville 43 @ Tiernan
At the conclusion of the tournament, an all-tournament team was announced. Mason Carpenter from Richmond and Jackson Feist from Seton Catholic were among those selected.
