Two members of Wayne County Special Olympics recently received Area 9 Spirit of Special Olympics awards.
Coach John Place received the Area 9 Volunteer of the Year award and Brandon Suttles received the Area 9 Athlete of the Year.
Both are eligible for the Special Olympics Indiana SOSA awards to be presented at the state conference in October.
Place is a member of the county management team, has headed the annual golf outing fundraiser since 2011, and coached both track and field and the women’s basketball team.
Suttles has been an athlete since he was 8 years old. He participates in track and field, golf, bowling, and basketball.
