Two Wayne County boys advanced to state finals after placing in the track and field regional held Thursday, May 28, at Greenfield-Central High School. Jacob Lindahl from Richmond won the shot put with a toss of 56’7.25,” and Cale Newton was fourth in the 3200 meter in a time of 9:27.77 but advanced to the state by meeting the state standard.
Those who finished in the top eight in each event scored points in the meet. The top three finishers in each event and those who meet the state standard in their event advance to the state finals on Saturday, June 6, at North Central High School.

Cambridge City Lincoln: Caden Alvarez placed 10th in the high jump.
Centerville: Evan Bain placed sixth in the high jump.
Northeastern: Lucas Chamness placed 13th in the 800 meter. Dash Thacker placed eighth in the 3200 meter. Trent Deloney placed fourth in the 300 meter hurdles. The 4 x 100 meter relay team of Quanell Denton, Luke Brock, Davis Reneau and Deloney placed 13th. The 4 x 400 meter relay team of Gavin Platt, Marshall Phillips, Chamness and Denton placed 16th.
Richmond: Trevin Crosby placed 10th in the 400 meter. Skylar Mullins placed 11th in the 400 meter. Brady Newton placed 11th in the 1600 meter. Ty’ziyah Stubbs placed 13th in the long jump. The 4 x 100 meter relay team of Mullins, Stubbs, Ian Cox and Crosby placed 12th.
Lawrence North High School was the team champion with 82 points, Richmond was 15th with 15 points, Northeastern was tied for 21st with six points and Centerville was tied for 24th with three points.
