Richmond led the area teams with a second-place team finish and had three weight class champions at the Eastern Hancock girls wrestling sectional. Centerville finished ninth with one weight-class champion, and Northeastern finished 12th.

Richmond

Claire Abbitt won the 120-pound weight class, Ambria Tate won the 135-pound weight class and Key’Aysha Golden won the 155-pound weight class. All three will advance to the regional round to be held at Muncie Central on Saturday, Jan. 10. Other Lady Red Devils advancing to the regional include Marlee Wampler, third in the 130-pound weight class, and Veronica Woods, fourth in the 100-pound weight class.

Other Richmond top six finishes:

Zoey Zurwell, fifth at 105 pounds.

Amya James, fifth at 110 pounds. 

Ka’Myia Nicholson, fifth at 140 pounds.

Arlette Espinoza, fifth at 235 pounds. 

Noemi Mendoza, sixth at 190 pounds.

Centerville

Shelby Life was the weight-class champion at 190 pounds. Other Lady Bulldogs advancing to the regional include Cami Davis, second at 115 pounds, and Izabelle Butler, fourth at 135 pounds. 

Other Centerville top six finishes:

Lilly Girdley, fifth at 125 pounds.

Alea Skinner, sixth at 155 pounds.

Northeastern

The Lady Knights did not have a weight-class champion, but Baylee White placed third at 140 pounds and Katie Wilt placed fourth at 235 pounds. Both White and Wilt advanced to the regional. 

Other Northeastern top six finishes: 

Kayla Greiner, sixth at 170 pounds.
