The United States women’s freestyle wrestling team captured the U23 Pan American Championships in competition at Rionegro, Colombia, that concluded on Saturday, June 22. 

Northeastern High School senior Heather Crull captured the bronze medal in the 50 kg weight class, which included seven participants.

Crull won her opening round match over Linda Castaneda Gaona (Mexico) by technical fall 13-2; lost to Mariana Rojas Diaz (Venezuela), the eventual gold medal winner, 11-5, lost to Maia Cabrera (Argentina, the eventual silver medal winner, 7-0, and won over Vicky Leon Gomez (Ecuador) by pin (1:18) in the bronze medal match. 

The United States captured the team title with 200 points. Colombia finished second with 142 points, and Mexico was third with 125 points. There were 12 nations that scored in the competition.
