Obituaries - Phillip Douglas Smiley

Lewisville, IN – Phillip Douglas Smiley, 32, of Lewisville passed away at his home on November 13, 2016. Phillip was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on June 21, 1984. A son of military parents, Phillip lived throughout the country during his childhood. He graduated from Tri High School in Lewisville with the class of 2004. He was a member of the United States Army Reserve, Lewisville Volunteer Fire Department, and enjoyed working on cars as a hobby. Formerly a mechanic at Big “O” Tire in New Castle and a truck driver for Knight Transportation, Phillip currently was employed by Fraley & Schilling Trucking in Rushville.

Survivors include his wife, April Ferguson Smiley, whom he married on December 28, 2013 at the Mary Gray Bird Sanctuary South of Connersville, Indiana.; two children, Hunter Douglas and Katelyn Lee Smiley of Lincoln, AL.; His mother, Cheryl (Rabenstein) Brunner; maternal grandmother, Phyllis Carey; brother, Nich (Allision) Smiley of Dayton, OH.; sister, Laura Painter of Michigan,; four step-children, David Estes of Atlanta, GA, Rachel Estes of New Castle, Christian Estes of Lewisville, and Rebekah Nordin of Vance AL.; step-mother, Chris Smiley of Lubbock, TX.; step-brother, Storm (Kristina) Hughes of Amarillo, TX.; step-sister, Heather (Chris) Jones of Lubbock, TX.; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Phillip was preceded in death by his father, Peter Joseph Smiley, in 2012 and his maternal grandfather, Carl Rabenstein.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday November 17, 2016 at the Marshall and Erlewein Funeral Home, Lewisville Chapel. Graveside Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday November 18, 2016 at Gardens of Memory in Muncie, Indiana. Reverend Eric Haler will officiate.
